How do i get an MMSI number Internationally? Regulations regarding MMSI vary from country to country and we are not able to stay informed on the current regulations in each area. We encourage you to contact your local regulatory body for information on MMSI use in your region.
The UK regulatory body is OFCOM Is a Boatus.com MMSI ok to use internationally? A number is needed in order to activate the red button and LocateMe technology. If you are outside of US waters an alert message and GPS position will still be received on all modern radios within 10 - 12 mile range if you depress the red button.
How do i change my MMSI number? International regulations state that only the radio manufacturer may change an MMSI number. The Lifeline is the only marine radio that allows this change WITHOUT sending it back to the factory. Email your name, unit serial number and place of purchase to info@nautilusexplorer.com and we will reset your MMSI. All you have to do after that is go online and select update firmware. Please allow 2 business days.
